Three more arrested in Byrne murder investigation

The arrest of three male teenagers brings to 14 the total number arrested in connection with the stabbing of David Byrne.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED three more people in connection with the murder of David Byrne in Inchicore on March 19.

The three males, all in their late teens, were arrested this morning and are currently being detained at stations across the south inner city.

Two of the men are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, while the third is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Today’s arrests being to 14 the number of people who have been arrested in connection with Byrne’s death.

Byrne, 19, died after he was chased from the Davitt House complex in Drimnagh to a car park at the Emmet Court apartments in Inchicore.

He was found in the car park with serious injuries at 10:30pm on the evening of Saturday 19th March, and died shortly afterward in St James’ Hospital.

It was reported last week that Gardaí believed the death was the result of a dispute among a group of drug dealers.
