GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses to a crash that claimed the life of an elderly man in Wicklow.
At about 11.30am today, the man in his 80s was killed when the tractor he was driving struck a ditch and overturned.
The incident occurred on a minor road at Ballycullen, near Ashford.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Loughlinstown Hospital for a post-mortem exam.
Forensic investigators are at the scene and the road is closed. Local diversions are in place.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the local station on 0404 60140 or the confidential line on 1800 666 111.
The man becomes the 119th person to die on Irish roads so far this year. That number is 20 fewer than the corresponding figure for 2014.
