QUIZ: Which True Detective Character are you?

True Detective: Night Country is finally here, and we want to know what True Detective character you are.

TRUE DETECTIVE MADE a stunning return to our screens overnight.

True Detective: Night Country, the latest season of the Sky Atlantic hit show, continued the breathless exploits of the previous iterations when it aired at 2am Irish time this morning. But if you didn’t quite stay awake to catch the first episode, don’t worry, because it will air again at 9pm tonight on Sky Atlantic.

Watching the season opener confirmed one thing for us – there is no fear of the action being toned down or made more predictable. Everything we know and love about True Detective is there in spades, with even more mystery and intrigue than ever before.

To give an example of the typically dark tone of True Detective present in episode one of True Detective: Night Country, we see a human tongue on the floor within five minutes of the show beginning and it only gets weirder from there. So be sure to tune in at 9pm tonight. You can also catch up with the season opener on Sky on demand.

The new season, which already boasts the highest score amongst critics of any True Detective season, was written and directed by Issa López and stars Academy Award Winner Jodie Foster in her first major television role. Foster is joined by professional boxer Kali Reis as co-lead in this series along with Christopher Eccleston and John Hawkes.

Revisiting the intense and narrow focus that True Detective is known for, True Detective: Night Country turns things up a notch in the eerie and spooky department. The mystery is heightened by the creepy setting of the show, with the perpetually dark town of Ennis, Alaska acting almost like an additional character in the show with its own personality.

The first episode introduced us to this unsettling environment and the intriguing mystery hidden within it. Watch along each week as Detectives Danvers and Navarro (Foster and Reis) struggle to overcome the darkness around them and inside of them.

Episode two comes out in the early hours of Monday morning (2am Irish time) – the same time as it hits screens in the US. The episode and all following episodes are available on Sky Atlantic and on demand thereafter.

If the season opener got you amped up for more True Detective, we’ve put together a character quiz to bridge the gap between episodes. Take our quiz below to find out which of the detectives from seasons gone by you share the most similarity with.
