Two arrested after lunchtime Rathfarnham bank robbery

Two men, in their 30s and 40s, are arrested in connection with a robbery at Rathfarnham Shopping Centre yesterday.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED two men in Dublin 8 this morning as part of investigations into a bank robbery in Rathfarnham yesterday afternoon.

A lone gunman entered the Bank of Ireland branch at Rathfarnham Shopping Centre at about noon yesterday, threatening a cashier and leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.

The man was observed getting into a small blue car, which was located a short time later. No shots were fired and nobody was injured during the incident.

Two men – aged in their mid-30s and early 40s – were arrested in connection with the robbery in a follow-up operation this morning.

Both men are being detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939. Investigations are continuing.
