Two men arrested after thousands of euro worth of perfume stolen from Dublin Airport

The two men were arrested inside the terminal by gardaí attached to Dublin Airport.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested in connection with the theft of over €5,700 worth of perfume from Dublin Airport yesterday.

The arrest came as part of Operation Táirge, which is part of An Garda Síochána’s crime prevention and reduction strategy aimed at detecting and preventing organised retail crime.

The two men, aged in their 50s and 40s, were arrested inside the terminal by gardaí attached to Dublin Airport.

They have both been charged and were due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin this morning.

Organised retail crime typically refers to situations where a number of people act together and target retailer outlets to steal significant quantities of goods to resell through the black market.

Gardaí say the crime is “usually coordinated and well-organised by people who recruit others to commit theft from retailers”.
