Users encounter problems with Revenue website on property tax deadline day

The site’s online payment section was down for a period this afternoon.

Updated 2.30pm

USERS ARE REPORTING issues with using Revenue’s online service for paying the property tax as the deadline for filing your paper return via post falls today.

Despite the online deadline not falling until 28 May, users say they are being told that the website is busy today and this screengrab confirms the site was down for a period this afternoon:

A spokesperson for Revenue said the site would be “back up soon” in response to a query a short time ago and the site appears to have returned in the last few minutes.

In a statement, the spokesperson said: “This issue was caused by scheduled system maintenance that took longer to implement than envisaged. We were off the air for about 90 minutes.”

One user who contacted TheJournal.ie said the site kept crashing when they used it this morning and said they were told by Revenue that it was very busy.

“I then tried to pay over the phone [and the] payments section was busy,” they added.
