A VIDEO HAS shown the emotional moment that a teen awoke after having life-saving surgery.
In the clip 15-year-old Trevor Sullivan, from Detroit, Michigan, is shown becoming overwhelmed after undergoing the procedure back in November of last year.
He had been undergoing surgery for severe cardiomyopathy, a severe condition that he was diagnosed with in February 2014.
Lying on the operating table, Trevor said:
I’m so happy. I’ve been waiting so long. I can breath again and can talk. I feel amazing. I’ve never felt so good.
The video was shared online by Trevor’s father Phil Sullivan, who told ABC News that his son was saved after a donor heart became available.
“We know that it was a younger person it came from, with good muscle tissue, a strong heart,” Phil said.
He was going the wrong path until we got the call.
The video was originally shared with Gift of Life Michigan, a Michigan organisation involved in assisting organ transplants from deceased donors.
Trevor’s parents have also set up a GoFundMe page, which has already raised $65,000 (€60,000), money which is going towards his medical costs.
