CORK IS IN line for a jobs boost after business outsourcing player Voxpro announced 350 new positions in the city.

The Taoiseach and Jobs Minister Richard Bruton were on hand for the announcement.

Recruitment is already underway in a process that will see the workforce expand from 500 to 850 by the end of the year.

The positions will be aimed at the company’s international division, which represents more that 80 per cent of Voxpro’s turnover.

Welcoming the announcement, the Taoiseach said:

Voxpro is a real Irish success story and a great inspiration for those setting up businesses today. Growing from employing six people to 500 now and adding a further 350 jobs is great news for Cork and contributes to the goal of making the recovery local.

Richard Bruton said that Voxpro is leading the way and “winning business from some of the world’s leading multinationals, and using that to expand rapidly in export markets.”

Chief exectuive of Voxpro Dan Kiely commented: “When my wife and I Linda founded the company 15 years ago, we had a team of six people. Today we are Ireland’s leading exporter of business process outsourcing, operating in 12 languages to over 100 indigenous and global organisations.”

In addition to three purpose-built facilities in Cork, Voxpro has a recently-opened office in Dublin and an international office in San Francisco.
