Guns, money and a crazy true story: watch the trailer for new movie War Dogs

It’s the unbelievable story of how two young Americans became international arms dealers.

Warner Bros. UK / YouTube

WAR DOGS IS the almost unbelievable true story of two young Americans who become international arms dealers in Iraq.

The film is based on a book (Arms and the Dudes) that was based on a Rolling Stone article written by Guy Lawson and directed by Hangover trilogy director Todd Philips, and stars Miles Teller and Jonah Hill.

The sheer craziness of this true story  is what brought the film’s stars on board, with Jonah Hill telling Reuters:

It was just this unbelievable story about people kind of abusing the ‘American Dream’ and the character was just kind of too insane – I would’ve been too jealous if I was watching someone else play this character.

Director Todd Philips, known for broader comedy such as Old School,  has said he wouldn’t have believed the story if he hadn’t known it were true. He told the Miami Herald:

My initial reaction was that I didn’t believe it. If it had been a short story I read in The New Yorker, I would have thought it was unbelievable and silly. So the most appealing part of it to me from the start is that this all really happened.

Fancy checking War Dogs out? It’s on general release from Warner Bros from 26 August.
