Water supplies restored after large main burst in Limerick

The city council said there was some flooding in the area but no property was affected.

LIMERICK CITY COUNCIL has said that water supplies have now been restored in most areas of the city after a large water main burst this morning.

The incident occurred at the Kilmallock Road Roundabout on the Childers Road at 5.30am.

The council said engineers have since redistributed water from other parts of the city to affected customers. Repair work to the damaged water main will continue throughout the day.

There was some flooding as a result of the burst water main but the council said that no property was affected. The floodwaters receded after the main supply was switched off.

The affected section of road reopened to traffic at 8.30am and the council said traffic is once again moving smoothly through the area.
