JUST ABOUT RECOVERED from the sunburn and the long weekend?
Here are some events happening around the country to enjoy today and tomorrow.
Dublin
The Dublin Kite Festival is taking place tomorrow on North Bull Island in Clontarf. Organisers will be providing free transport all day from the top of the coast road down to the beach.
The days kicks off at 11am and there’ll be children’s entertainment, workshops and kite demonstrations all day until 5. For more information and a full event schedule, click here.
Carlow
The Borris House Festival of Writing and Ideas brings writers, film-makers, musicians and political commentators to Borris Village. From a talk with female foreign correspondents to a discussion on music and writing, there’s something for everyone.
The events are ticketed, except for some free music sessions. Ticket holders are also entitled free entry into two art exhibitions. For a full list of events and prices check out the event website here.
Kerry
The Killarney Walking Festival is taking place all this weekend in the breathtaking surroundings of Kerry’s mountains. There are walks available for all ages and abilities and a full schedule is available here.
The prices of guided walks range from €20 to €55, with some family discounts on offer. There’s live entertainment and a barbecue every night at the Gleneagle Hotel.
Mayo
Bands from Ireland, the UK, Holland and the US will descend on Co Mayo for the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival. Gigs start today and tomorrow at 11.30am and run until late.

Limerick
Limerick Sings is a non-competitive weekend of choral singing and entertainment. Entrance to tonight’s concert costs €12 and Sunday’s concert costs €10. Tickets are available to buy online here. You can visit the Limerick Sings website for more information.
Donegal
Fancy an ‘Island Wildlife Weekend’? A weekend of outdoor adventure is taking place on five of Ireland’s wild Atlantic islands – and all events are free. Tory Island, off the north-west coast of Donegal, will be hosting evenings of céilí music, a ‘bat walk’ and introductions to the island’s flora and fauna.
The island can be reached by ferry from the towns of Bunbeg and Magheroarty. The events will run all day today and Sunday. A full list of activities and times can be found here.
