Offline beer glass of the week

We’re all guilty of drifting off into smartphone world while at the pub with friends but we all know how annoying it is to sit with someone who can’t put their phone down for five minutes as well. Salve Jorge has come up with this new invention to “rescue people from the online world and brought them back to the bar tables”, Buzzfeed reports. It’s basically a bar glass that will fall over unless you use your smartphone as the beer mat.

Instagramimation of the week

This video will put you and your sepia tone selfies to shame. These two guys, who describe themselves as “a couple of dudes, making videos”, used over 1,600 Instagram snaps to create this delightful stop-motion animation.

Smart smoke detector of the week

We never thought we’d hear ourselves say this, but that is one good looking smoke detector. Not only is the Canary a pretty little thing, it monitors smoke, carbon monoxide and general air quality including dust, pollen and mould, Gizmodo reports. It sends alerts directly to your smartphone, explaining the problem. For now this smart smoke detector is just a prototype but may soon make it to the market so keep your eyes peeled…
