WIN: A unique Valentine's getaway for two - thanks to Powerscourt Distillery

Win a romantic one-night stay at the Powerscourt Hotel, as well as a whiskey tasting and movie screening.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING for an out-of-the-ordinary way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, look no further.

We’ve teamed up with Powerscourt Distillery to offer one lucky reader of TheJournal.ie two tickets to a romantic day out, including a signature cocktail, whiskey tasting, and movie screening – the perfect Valentine’s evening.

On arrival, you’ll enjoy a specially crafted Valentine’s cocktail, the Fercullen Rose, which is a blend of Fercullen whiskey, raspberry syrup, lemon juice, Chambord and berry tea, topped with fresh raspberries.

You’ll then retire to a cinema room for screening of P.S. I Love You, parts of which were filmed in the nearby Enniskerry village and Wicklow Mountains. At an interval, you’ll have a whiskey tasting of the distillery’s signature whiskeys, complemented by a delicious selection of local cheese and charcuterie.

Finally, you’ll stay overnight at the luxurious Powerscourt Hotel, in an upgraded room, and enjoy complimentary breakfast!

The Powerscourt Distillery opened its visitor centre in May 2019 on the Powerscourt Estate grounds. Part of the distillery is a converted mill house dating back to 1730, opening into a light, bright contemporary distiller and a modern visitor centre.

Fercullen Irish Whiskey is made by Fercullen’s Master Distiller and Blender Noel Sweeney. Various expressions include the new Fercullen 18 Year Old Single Malt, the Fercullen 10 Year Old Single Grain, the Fercullen Premium Blend Irish Whiskey, and finally, the Fercullen 14 Year Old Single Malt.

The name has local ties, too: “Fercullen” is the old Irish title given to Powerscourt Estate.

At the distillery, you’ll find six individual tasting rooms, a high-end AV lounge, as well as a cafe, bar and retail area. It is open daily for tours and tastings, and is just a quick walk away from the five-star Powerscourt Hotel.
