Woman airlifted to hospital after road collision in Co Kerry

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

THREE PEOPLE HAVE been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision in Co Kerry this morning. 

The collision involved two vehicles and happened just after 9:30 am on the N22 Killarney to Tralee road at Coolcorcoran, Killarney.

A woman in her 60s, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to Cork University Hospital by air ambulance for treatment of what a Garda spokesperson said were serious injuries.

The two drivers, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 60s, were taken to University Hospital Kerry to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Gardaí said the road remains closed as a technical examination takes place. 

Local traffic diversions are in place but a Garda spokesperson said those diversions are not suitable for heavy vehicles and drivers are advised to use alternative national routes.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have dash-cam and were travelling in the area between 9:00am and 9:45am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
