IT’S NOT OFTEN you see Vincent Browne rattled but, last night, Irish Independent journalist Fionnan Sheahan did a good job trying.
The political correspondent took umbrage to being questioned about how long his newspaper had the Anglo tapes before publishing them. Addressing the TV3 presenter, he said:
You spend so much time showing your bias against Independent newspapers, it is getting sickening at this stage. Can you not just acknowledge it is a good story and move on? Is that too much for you?
Browne did say the story was a good one but Sheahan wasn’t quite finished.
I’m sick of your attitude towards the Irish Independent and Independent newspapers. I do [have a problem]. When you bring a colleague of mine on here a couple of weeks ago and just kick him around for your fun. So can you not just acknowlege in this case Vincent that it is a perfectly good story and talk about it.
Then, the show had to go on…
Note: Sheahan was referencing a show on 11 June during which his colleague Fiach Kelly was discussing his stories about PAC chairman John McGuinness and his travel expenses.
At the time, Sheahan tweeted that Browne was complaining about a journalist raising questions about a politician.
