Young girl killed in Co Wicklow road accident

The nine-year-old girl was killed after a collision with a car in Blessingtown, Co Wicklow, this evening.

A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has been killed following a road accident in Co Wicklow this evening.

Gardai in Blessington are investigating the circumstances of the fatal road traffic collision, which occurred at approximately 5.40pm on the N81, the Baltinglass side of the village of Blessington.

The collision was between a car and a pedestrian, a 9 year old girl.

The child was seriously injured and taken to Naas General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.

Witnesses are asked to contact Blessington Garda Station on 045 857620, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
