IS YOUR COMMUTE to work becoming increasingly indistinguishable from a tin can of sardines? 

Commuters travelling by train are highlighting uncomfortable journeys with carriages packed full of people. Last October, Sinn Féin TD Louise O’Reilly shared a photo of an Iarnród Éireann service she believed was “dangerously overcrowded”.

According to figures from the National Transport Authority, Iarnród Éireann services, including DART, Dublin Commuter, and Intercity routes, carried a record-breaking number of passengers last year (55m).

Many companies, including AIB and Enterprise Ireland, are enforcing back-to-the-office protocols, which may be contributing to the increase in public transport use.
