GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe in a botched raid on a Credit Union earlier this year are carrying out a series of searches in Co Louth this afternoon.
The Gardaí, based in Dundalk station, are carrying out a series of searches in the Carlingford area, close to the border with Northern Ireland.
Both Carlingford and Bellurgan – where Donohoe was murdered on the evening of January 25 while escorting a cash delivery – are on the Cooley Peninsula close to the Northern border.
Gardaí said the searches today were follow-on searches from those carries out by their colleagues in the PSNI earlier this month.
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for members of the public, who may have information on the murder, to come forward.
They can contact the Garda Confidential line at 1800 666 111.
The Crimestoppers appeal, which has offered a ‘substantial’ reward, also remains in place.
