Man arrested in Northern Ireland over Regency Hotel murder

The man was arrested on foot of a European arrest warrant in Strabane.

A MAN HAS been arrested in Co Tyrone in connection with the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in Dublin.

Byrne, a member of the Kinahan drug gang, was shot dead at a boxing weigh-in at the hotel on 5 February this year. The PSNI said a 46-year-old man was arrested today in the Strabane area in connection with the murder.

A spokesperson said he was arrested on foot of a European arrest warrant from the Republic.

He is scheduled to appear before a court in Belfast tomorrow.

Seven people have been arrested in the south of Ireland as part of this investigation.
