A 59-YEAR-OLD man is currently being detained at Ennis Garda station after an incident involving a firearm this morning.
He is being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the Person Act, after allegedly threatening contractors working on behalf of Irish Water in Clarecastle, Co Clare, at 9.20 am.
Local reports say a water meter installer had a rifle pointed at him at an address on Quay Road in the town.
A spokesperson for Irish Water would only confirm that Gardaí were investigating “an incident involving a weapon in Clare earlier today” where “more than one” Irish Water contractor was present.
