Commuting liveblog: M50 delays and crash on N7

Let’s take a look at the weather forecast, shall we? Met Éireann says the morning will be cloudy with showery rain in places. Sunny spells will develop this afternoon but heavy showers are expected in some parts of the country, mainly in Munster.

This was the rather grey view from our offices in Dublin just after 7am:

The M50 southbound is busy now from Lucan, as you can see from Dublin City Council’s rain-splattered traffic camera:

You might want to avoid the Rock Road in Dublin if you’re in a rush:

Traffic is still moving well around Galway and Limerick.

Elsewhere, the N40 southbound in Cork is busy from the Dunkettle Interchange to Mahon.

Dart user? Services in and out of the Docklands station have been slightly delayed.

A breakdown is blocking traffic on the M50 southbound at Firhouse:

There are two breakdowns now on the N7:

Another crash, this time on the N40 in Cork:

Lengthy delays can be expected on the M50 for some time:

Traffic is backed up just before the Royal Canal at the North Strand:

The North Strand Road is still busy up to Connolly Station:

The M50 remains slow southbound until just after Firhouse.
