Two arrests over murders of Coolock men who were found dead at Cavan lake

Anthony Keegan and Eoin O’Connor, both from Coolock in north Dublin, had been missing for over a month before their bodies were discovered.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING THE deaths of two Dublin men whose bodies were found two weeks’ ago, after they’d been missing for more than a month, have made two arrests.

The two men were detained in the Cavan area this morning.

The bodies of Anthony Keegan and Eoin O’Connor, both from Coolock in north Dublin, were found on 26 May on a small island in Lough Sheelin — a lake on the border between Cavan and Meath.

The pair had last been seen on 22 April. A major search operation was launched after their families raised concerns about their safety.

Four days after they went missing, a car they were travelling in was discovered beside a lake in Co Westmeath.

The two men arrested this morning are aged in their 20s and 30s. They’re being questioned at Kells Garda Station.
