'You were in bed with the banks!': The Dáil has had its first row of the new term

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael clashed in the chamber today.

TWO DAYS IN and already TDs are getting a bit tetchy if this afternoon’s debate on mortgage arrears is anything to go by.

As Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen spoke on the party’s motion regarding the mortgage arrears crisis, the Gaeltacht Affairs Minister Dinny McGinley got a bit angry.

“You have neck to come in here,” the Fine Gael Minister of State shouted at Cowen across the chamber, accusing Cowen of “claptrap”.

“It’s no claptrap, it’s no claptrap! Read it!” Cowen shouted back before McGinley accused Cowen and Fianna Fáil of being “in bed with the banks”.
