Does Enda Kenny have confidence in James Reilly?

The Taoiseach accused Micheal Martin of “never going near” difficult issues while he was Health Minister.

THE TAOISEACH HAS said that he has rejected assertions that the HSE is in disarray.

Speaking during Leaders’ Questions, Enda Kenny said that the 250 consultant vacancies in the health system were in the process of being filled.

Kenny accused Micheal Martin of “never going near” issues of budget management in his time as Health Minister.

He added that the situation is being managed and that a long process of overhauling the health sector in the country.

Kenny was also asked if he has confidence in Health Minister James Reilly to see out the job of fixing the health sector.

His initial response fell short of fully backing Reilly.

“On the issue of taking charge of matters that spent years lying around, the matter of confidence speaks for itself.”

When it was put to him by Martin that that response was not a wholesale vote of confidence, the Taoiseach said, off mic, that he does support Reilly.
