Sarah Palin

'Epic' Palin film may launch 2012 presidential bid

US media jumps on house purchase in Arizona and new doc on Sarah Palin to suggest she will take a run at the White House

CONTROVERSIAL POLITICIAN Sarah Palin may not be out of the US presidential race yet.

According to a number of reports in the US media today, a few moves have been afoot in the Palin camp which might indicate that she is getting ready to throw her name back in the ring. The Arizona Republic newspaper reported at the weekend that Palin may have bought a massive home near Scottsdale, Arizona through a company set up specifically to disguise the identity of the buyer. This home, according to the New York Times, could serve as a base for Palin during a potential election campaign.

More intriguing is the feature-length documentary Palin has just made with filmmaker Stephen K Bannon. RealClearPolitics.com describes the film called The Undefeated as a “two-hour-long, sweeping epic, a rough cut of which Bannon screened privately for Sarah and Todd Palin last Wednesday in Arizona”. The film is to premiere in Iowa next month and the suspicion is that it will serve to rally the troops and a call to action ahead of Palin seeking a new Republican nomination.

The film charts her rise in politics and interviews people instrumental to her career but doesn’t interview Palin herself. The film, according to Andrew Sullivan at the Daily Beast, should serve as “pure propaganda” and set her up as “running as a victim; she is running for revenge”.

The Young Turks have pointed out that Palin has given an interview to Fox News, saying:

I want to make sure America is put back on the right track… and the only way to do that is by defeating Obama in 2012… The fire in the belly, yeeahh it’s there – that’s kind of my problem is that there is such a roaring fire in my belly to restore all that is good about America that I struggle with that every single day.

See it here. (Warning: The Young Turks do not appear to be big Palin fans)…
