Gardaí arrest third man in organised crime investigation

A man in his late 20s has been investigated in connection with Sunday’s exchange of gunfire at Ballymore Eustace.

GARDAÍ IN NAAS have arrested a third man in connection with Sunday’s incident in Ballymore Eustace in which shots were fired by Gardaí.

The man, in his late 20s, was arrested this afternoon and is being detained at Naas Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

His arrest follows the detention of a second man who was arrested yesterday, and who also remains in custody at Naas station.

A 30-year-old man who was arrested following the incident on Sunday was released without charge yesterday, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

His arrest came after Gardaí stopped a car at Ballymore Eustace, Co Wicklow on Sunday as part of investigations into organised crime.

A firearm and cash were recovered during that raid. A second car, which had failed to stop for Gardaí, was able to escape the scene.
