Gardaí continue to detain two over Airport drug seizure

A mother and daughter remain in custody at Finglas Garda Station in connection with a €1m drug seizure yesterday.

A SOUTH AMERICAN mother and daughter remain in Garda custody this evening, for questioning in connection with a drug seizure at Dublin Airport yesterday.

The pair, aged 44 and 23, were arrested during a search on their hotel room on Dublin’s northside shortly after 6pm yesterday, during which 14kg of cocaine – with an estimated street value of around €1m – was seized.

The raid had followed an alert at Dublin Airport following activity by customs officers. Gardaí say the drugs were destined for the Irish market.

The women, who are being held at Finglas Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, can be held for up to seven days.
