IT’S GOING TO be a windy weekend, but snow is likely to hit us on Sunday evening and Monday morning.
Met Éireann has issued an orange weather warning for several counties this weekend, with gusts of as high as 130km/h at times expected over Saturday and Sunday.
Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo are set to be the worst affected, and an orange weather warning is in place.
There is a status yellow wind warning Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Westmeath, Meath, Roscommon, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford.
If you’re going to be out and about on the roads this weekend, the Road Safety Authority said users should ‘expect the unexpected’, as you never know what might suddenly blow out onto the road.
Tomorrow evening it is going to get very windy, with severe gusts developing over Connacht and Ulster.
So, when is the snow coming? Just when we’ll all be heading back to work.
Sunday will be cold and blustery, with a mix of sunshine and showers of rain or hail.
Met Eireann said the showers will continue on Sunday night and will become increasingly wintry, with snow accumulations likely later in the night, especially on high ground.
However, it said that a dusting of snow is possible at lower levels by dawn on Monday.
While some might be able to stay home and make snowmen, for those that have to battle with the elements, it’s best they wrap up warm.
There will be frost and icy patches, with lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 celsius. Yikes.
Monday is going to have it all – sunny spells, rain, hail, sleet and snow. Your typical Irish weather. Enjoy!
