Kenny's first foreign affairs meeting brings him to Brussels

The Taoiseach will travel to Brussels today to meet with the European Commission President to brief him on the new government’s policy priorities.

ENDA KENNY WILL carry out his first international engagement as Taoiseach  today, travelling to Brussels to meet European Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

Kenny is expected to brief Barroso on the new coalition government’s policy priorities as well as confirming Ireland’s commitment to the EU.

They will also consider the key issues to be discussed on Friday, when Kenny and other eurozone heads of government meet with one another and attend summits with the European Council.

Eurozone leaders will discuss the how best to coordinate economic policy to tackle problems, while the European Council will consider the current situation in Libya.
