Woman rescued from house fire by neighbour

The woman was rescued from a downstairs living room.

A WOMAN WAS rescued after her house caught fire last night.

The woman had been rescued by her neighbour after the fire broke out at a house in Walnut Court, Kennedy Park after 7.30pm last night.

Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised after the alarm was raised.

On arrival, a neighbour had successfully rescued the lady, believed to be in her 60s, from the downstairs living room.

She was treated along with the neighbour for smoke inhalation by the fire service until HSE paramedics arrived. She was transported to University Hospital Limerick where her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes of the fire service’s arrival and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Garda Forensic Unit.
