A man is fatally injured after being struck by a tram on Steevens Lane, close to Heuston Station, at around 4:30pm this afternoon.

A MAN has been killed in central Dublin this evening after being struck by a Luas carriage during the afternoon rush hour.

The accident occurred on Steeven’s Lane, which runs between the Heuston Station and James’ Hospital stops on the Red Line, at around 4:30pm this afternoon.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and has been removed to the City Morgue.

The road remains closed to the Luas pending a forensic collision examination.
