Gardaí seize drugs, a gun, pepper spray and bullet-proof vests from Tallaght house

A man in his 30s was arrested following the seizure.

GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN have seized a handgun and a large quantity of cannabis herb from a house in Tallaght.

As part of an intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs, gardaí attached to the Tallaght Drugs Unit seized the items this morning.

During the course of the search, cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €10,000 was seized, as well as two bullet-proof vests, an imitation handgun, gloves, a balaclava, and a quantity of pepper spray.

A man in his early 30s was arrested at the scene on foot of existing bench warrants and was to appear in Tallaght District Court today.

A statement from the gardaí said that such seizures are crucial.

“These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.

“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.”
