Man in his 60s killed after being hit by car early this morning

Part of the R513 at Hospital, Co Limerick is currently closed.

A MAN IN his late 60s has died after being hit by a car in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened on the R513 at Hospital, Co Limerick at about 1am.

The male pedestrian was brought to University Hospital Limerick where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car was uninjured.

This stretch of road is currently closed pending an examination by garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

Witnesses have been asked to contact Bruff Garda Station on 061 382 940, the garda confidential telephone line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

The man is the second person to lose his life on our roads this morning. A man in his 30s died after his car collided with a fence on the N52 at Ardcroney, Co Tipperary at about 2am.
