Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car in Thurles

The driver and three children in the car were uninjured.

A PEDESTRIAN HAS died after being struck by a car in Tipperary yesterday afternoon.

The 47-year-old man was treated at the scene near Turtulla Cross, Tortulla, Thurles by paramedics, but was later pronounced dead in hospital.

The driver of the car, a 32-year-old man, and three children also in the vehicle were uninjured.

The collision happened at around 3.10pm about 1km outside Thurles.

The road has reopened following a forensic examination.

A post mortem on the deceased is due to be carried out later today.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact them at Thurles Garda Station on 0504 25100, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1 800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
