Feck off Christmas, it’s still November.

I love how people give out about the markettng strategies of businesses every single year it’s almost like a Christmas tradition in itself.

Don’t get me wrong seeing Christmas decorations up around town before you see Halloween decorations is a little off putting but the holiday is what you make of it – you’re not being forced to engage in the festivities all full steam head in November, celebrate Christmas in your own way.

I have started picking up a few pieces myself not because a store window is decked out like a Nativity scene but because I don’t like the rush in December to get it all done.

Waiting on budget to see if I have money for Xmas shopping. Unfortunately that is the reality for me. It’s tight and if Noonan milks me well I won’t be able to support the domestic economy as much as I like.

Yes yer man in red was finished yesterday and we have dinner in the in laws so apart from putting up the tree we are done.

Most of it done at this stage. Took advantage of any sales and put stuff away for Christmas.

I do my Christmass shopping on Christmass eve.

Totally with Ronan. What the hell is wrong with people having a bit of fun, being happy even if it’s temporary and pretend? What’s wrong with children having a ball, loving it, laughing, looking forward? Get a life! Quite right, Ronan. You have one. it’s begrudgers and whingers who seem to resent the happiness of others who don’t have a life.

Jesus I can’t even pay my bills not to mind waste money on presents. Its all commercial exploitation. I love the Christmas spirit but Christmas is ruined now by adds and parties and bombarded with materialism. I have 4 major bills on the table for months. Prayers is all I am giving people for Christmas. It costs nothing to pray for people.

Don’t do Christmas. I buy my 2 nieces gifts and then make sure I’m in a country as far away as possible on Dec 25th.

Picking up a few bits and pieces here and there when something catches my eye. January is an expensive month in Casa Chainsaw, due to three birthdays so they’re included in the Christmas budgeting. I try to shop local as I find doing the Big Day/Weekend Shopping Trip somewhere never yields much, but ends up costing a fortune anyway.

Why do people buy into this mess. Why buy things in summer for a commercial entity that is now christmas? We are creating the problem doing this. Its insane. That is not the true meaning of christmas. Buying stuff is not christmas I am sorry. Thats what this commercial business world has turned it into . wasteful capitalism at it worst. Yes I believe in goodwill and helping the poor but giving stuff to people who already have loads of stuff is a mugs game. Not me sorry. I opted out ot this huge scam years ago and still enjoy the real meaning of Christmas which has nothing to do with wasting money and excessive materialism.

Don’t do Xmas. Give presents when it suits me not when dictated too. Usually go to sales when prices drop to clear the overstocked, over priced stuff. Amazes me how a successful Xmas is based on the commercial sales.

Kids just love presents when they are unexpected.

I’ll have it all done in three weeks. nearly finished. Start early and dont have to worry about last min dash around the shops, while most of the good stuff is gone.

I fookin hate Christmas.

Key to Christmas shopping: write a list! write out who you are buying for and ideas of what to get them. That way you won’t be trawling the shops blindly and wasting money buying crap no one wants

I love Christmas – at Christmas time.

The shops are only putting out Christmas stuff earlier because of people’s shopping patterns. In recent years people have been getting ahead and starting their present buying much earlier to save on last minute panic and the monumental expense, to spread it out over a few months. They realized this when all of their gift sets etc went out in December and couldn’t be shifted. And in saying that the shops don’t seem to order in as much stock, afraid of being left with it then. If you start your shopping in December there’ll be crap all left.
