Poll: Should the garda whistleblowers be brought before the PAC?

The Garda Commissioner is reluctant to have the whistleblowers appear in front of the committee, but government ministers want answers.

GARDA COMMISSIONER MARTIN Callinan says he is seeking legal advice over the proposed appearances of two garda whistleblowers at the Public Accounts Committee next week.

Whistleblowers

However, speaking today on RTE Radio One’s Morning Ireland, Independent TD Shane Ross said the whistleblowers have “every right to express a view, an opinion and give evidence in public”. He said he thought the PAC was a “democratic forum” where the penalty points controversy should be aired.

In light of this week’s revelations and the opposing viewpoints, we want to know what you think in today’s poll: Should the garda whistleblowers be brought before the PAC?

Poll Results:

No, they should not (1656)
Yes, they should appear (1208)
I don't know (886)
