If it turns out that Fianna Fail manage to salvage the election by sacrificing Clowan I’ll be very surprised. But then again the Irish people kept these shower of wankers in Government for 3 terms….

They never even bothered trying to run the country. Tell their canvassers that you’ll vote for them and then don’t. That way they’ll have a taste of their won medicine.

What are the 13% of people thinking. If a change of leader could absolve the mess that FF have created in their eyes, that they would contemplate voting for them. Have these people no loyalty or pride in their country.

No, Brian Cowen, didn’t do this on his own. It is clear that he has been made a “scape groat” by the Fianna Fáil party. They ministers and members are not taking responsibility for their part in this. Brian Lenehan etc were key decision-makers within the party. The Rot started many years ago, it started with greed and has ended with greed. What I mean by this is, that for the last two years the leader and his Ministers have made decisions like condemned men and women. Everything was part of a strategy to recovery from the damage to the party from the last few years. It is clear that decisions made were with the hope that they would get it right, or cover it up in time for the election.

The saying “The best judge of future behaviour is past behaviour” the majority of servering and recently retired senior and junior minister’s past behaviour, is to lie, cover up, mismanage government departments, and mislead the people they were suppose to serve. You only have to look at Mental Heath, and the misuse of the money allocated to provide services to people with Mental Health problems, If I remember rightly, over a number of years money allocated to implement the, ‘Vision for Change’, was redirected to other departments within the Health Service executive, and vulnerable people suffering from service Mental Health illnesses were once again neglected, and abused.

I also believe the hope within the party was that if they managed to get the Lisbon Treaty referendum passed the first time around, the flaws within the Irish banks could be covered up, and the impact of the banking crisis would not have been so severe.

When they failed to get the Lisbon Treaty referendum passed the first, they allowed the Irish people to believe that the fall of the Irish economy was their fault to push through a second referendum, they put the fear of god into the Irish people to make sure the yes vote for Lisbon Treaty referendum won, the second time.

I understand from reports issued, that key decision-makers were aware of the seriousness of the banking crisis at that stage, yet they said nothing. They saying, “It’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks” stands out here, Brian Cowen and many of the senior and junior ministers presently serving behave as though they are not accountable to anyone. They only hope for the Fianna Fáil party, is to be open and completely honest, bring new people into the party to bring about a change in behaviour and accountability. There are many good people in Fianna Fáil and they will suffer as a result, if Fianna Fáil is prepared to put the country before the party they will vote Michael Martin as Leader, and when the election is over, they can begin to build a new Fianna Fáil built on integrity, and accountability.

The entire political system here is a joke! We’ll have a FG/LBR government but the perks, outrageous holidays and the blatant cronyism will remain! All we’re doing is taking our fate from the circus clowns and passing it to trapeze artists……and they ain’t got no safety net!
