Second arrest over fire that killed five-year-old girl

A woman in her 30s has been arrested in Boyle, Co Roscommon this evening.

GARDAÍ HAVE MADE a second arrest in connection with the fatal house fire which killed a five-year-old girl in Co Roscommon on Monday morning.

A woman in her early 30s was arrested this evening in the Boyle area and is being detained at the local Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

The male in his 30s who was arrested yesterday in the Sligo area remains in Garda custody.

The victim, who has been named as Mari Connolly, was killed early on Monday morning by a blaze at the house she was sleeping in.

A man in his late 20s and two other children managed to escape from the fire, which was discovered between 2.30am and 3am.
