GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a string of violent attacks in Dublin’s north inner city.

A unidentified man was shot dead, a taxi was robbed and a homeless man was assaulted.

Gardaí are currently treating the attacks, all of which occurred within a kilometre of each other, as separate incidents.

A murder investigation has now been launched following the fatal shooting that took place before midnight at the back of the Killarney Court apartment complex on Empress Place.

The man was shot in the upper body and died at the scene, according to reports.

A 31-year-old man is being detained in relation to the murder. He’s currently being detained at Mountjoy Garda Station.

A post mortem has been completed and the results have been passed on to the investigation team.

Earlier today -gardaí arrested a 20-year-old woman in relation to this shooting. She’s being held at Store Street Garda Station.

Attacks The locations of last night's attacks. 1) Fatal shooting. 2) Taxi robbery. 3) Assault on homeless man.

In what gardaí are treating as an unrelated incident, a homeless man was assaulted and robbed on Mabbot Lane at 6pm.

Soon afterwards, a taxi driver was robbed at 7.25pm just 100 metres away from the fatal shooting at Terrace Place.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested, and is currently being held at Mountjoy Garda Station.

The man, who was travelling in the taxi, allegedly produced a firearm and demanded cash, gardaí say.

Labour TD for Dublin Central Joe Costello has described the attacks as “appalling and savage”.

“The Gardaí in the Dublin North Central Division must be congratulated for making an early arrests in the case,” he said this evening, he also called for a further crackdown on gun crime in the city.
