23-year-old man arrested over fatal stabbing of Dun Laoghaire student

25-year-old Leo Carolan was stabbed on Dublin’s South Circular Road this week.

A MAN HAS been arrested by gardaí investigating the death of 25-year-old student Leo Carolan, who was stabbed on Dublin’s South Circular Road this week.

The body of the Dun Laoghaire man was discovered after gardaí searched a flat on the road close to the junction with Bloomfield Avenue in Dublin 8 on Tuesday.

Gardaí confirmed that a man aged 23 was arrested in Dublin city yesterday afternoon.

He’s being held at Kevin Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí were alerted to the scene by members of the public on Tuesday when another man was found on the street outside the flat with a number of injuries.

Later on Tuesday, they also issued an appeal for a third man seen leaving the house.

Leo Carolan was a student at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology.

The investigation is ongoing.
