I see suspicious behaviour on a daily basis, every day. A lot of it is about how we perceive things, if every one started reporting suspicious behaviour then it would be like the boy cried wolf to the guards. We don’t even know how she was approached. Was she asked to get in a car for ride. see some puppies, or was he asking for directions ???? The article is desperately lacking in any relevant information that might link this activity to another that might enable the guards to follow up on.

I agree with everyone else on here. Pathetic piece of reporting that might as well not be reported, maybe Aoife should have waited for further information before writing it

I read somewhere that a 10 year old girl was approached outside a school in Dooradoyle in Limerick recently – I think she was asked to get into a car. I assume this is a related incident.

Calm down, red thumb squad! Not making light of this, just pointing out that this article is the most vague piece of journalism I’ve ever seen.

My son recently got a note home from School outlining that there have been attempted child abductions in the Mid Louth Area two weeks ago. I was very suprised that this did not make it on to the news, perhaps you could investigate?

I actually read about that 2 weeks ago, it was all over face book

Aghhh Aoife , why can’t you just make stuff up ;) you could get a job offer with the news of the world as a tabloid reporter , just add some drama for effect if you have no real info , head lines stuff like “limerick street of fear” , Ireland’s street of horror , using words like “approach” aren’t dramatic enough use words like ALERT , Street Alert or Garda Alert ya get the idea , tabloid reporting , I mean what could go wrong ….

i know thats all you can report but if theres nothing to write about dont write about it. “and that this was the fourth such incident in the past month.” see that makes it a bit more complete but im sure if any student wanting to be a journalist handed this into a tutor they would be told to leave quickly.

Paul, having been a journalism student, I know that there is a big difference between a simulated exercise and real-life reporting.

with the details u had this morning why bother write anything at all? i know its been changed now and to be honest i still dont know why its even on here , but as you can see im not the only one who thinks this was just a waste of time article and should never have been put up.

Hey Paul, Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning ? If I lived in Limerick I would like to know about stuff like this. Information from the Gardai however vague should be taken seriously. They often leave out information for operational reasons.

I assume the problem is some legal aspect that forces journalists to be vague so they don’t get done for libel. That, or lack of information.

Or it’s just a non-story that really shouldn’t have been reported.

Perhaps she should make it up to you brian, Aoife you should maybe consider putting your skills to better use, possibly by making brian a tasty sandwich or fetching him a cold beer even, just a thought….. :) it seems journalism is not your forte.
