Video: Waiter spills five beers over Angela Merkel

The German Chancellor was soaked ahead of her address to the Christian Democratic Union on Ash Wednesday.

WHEN GERMAN CHANCELLOR Angela Merkel addressed the Christian Democratic Union meeting in Demmin, Germany last Wednesday, few in the crowd might have guessed she had just been bathed in beer.

While giving the Chancellor a glass of beer ahead of her speech, a waiter standing behind her accidentally tipped the rest of his tray’s contents down her back.

The German leader was caught on camera shrugging off the incident before making a toast with her own glass of beer:
