The latest weather warnings have kicked in, and it's properly hideous out there

Properly, properly hideous.

A FRESH SET of weather warnings have come into effect — and conditions on the roads are pretty dreadful across much of the country as a result.

Met Éireann’s yellow alert snow-ice warning came into effect at 6am.

According to the weather service:

Wintry showers will bring snow accumulations of up to 3 cm at lower levels during Wednesday and through Thursday, all areas at risk.

Showers will be most frequent in the west and north and over hills and mountains with higher accumulations expected there.

Meanwhile, a yellow wind warning also applies today.

The advice…

“Southwest to west winds will reach mean speeds of between 50 and 65 km/h with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h during Wednesday.

Strongest at the coasts of the west and northwest.

Further snow showers are expected tomorrow, turning to rain in some areas by Friday.

AA Roadwatch is reporting fallen trees, and localised flooding in some areas.
