Man (40s) shot in the head in west Belfast

Two men have been arrested in connection with the attack.

A MAN IN his 40s has been shot in the head in west Belfast.

The attack happened shortly before 9am at Rossnareen Avenue.

The victim was taken from the scene by car before being transferred to an ambulance at the nearby Shaw’s Road.

Two men have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation.

A local Sinn Féin politician said the shooting would have happened in front of young people going into school.

“This morning’s shooting was wrong and I condemn it unreservedly,” MLA Rosie McCorley said.

“My first thoughts are obviously with the family of the man who has been shot and I hope that he makes a full recovery.

“The people who carried out this attack had no regard for the local community given that many people including children were heading to and from school and work at the time of the shooting.”

Detectives have appealed to the public for information.
