Two men killed in collisions in Westmeath and Clare

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collisions to contact them.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been killed in separate road collisions in the last 24-hours in Westmeath and Clare.

A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the old N6 at Gaulstown, Rochfortbridge between 7.45pm and 8pm yesterday evening. Gardaí said the man was travelling on the road when his motorcycle struck a fence and a stone pillar.

His body has been taken to Midlands regional Hospital, Tullamore, where a full post mortem examination will take place.

In a separate incident, a man in his 20s was fatally injured when his car collided with a wall at 4.30am today on the Sixmilebridge Road to Shannon in Clare. His body has been removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post mortem will take place later today.

Anyone with information about these crashes is asked to contact gardaí.
