TWO PEOPLE have died in road crashes in Co Kerry and Co Sligo this morning.

Gardaí in Dingle are investigating an incident in which one woman was killed.

The woman, thought to be in her 50s, died after being hit by a truck at Inch Strand before 10am. RTÉ reports that the truck was being used to move surfboards.

The woman was an American tourist who arrived at Inch Strand on a bus with her husband and other visitors, and the group was walking on the beach at the time of the incident. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A motorcyclist was fatally injured after his bike was involved in a collision with a van at Ballymote, Co Sligo, this morning. The incident occurred at Stonepark before 11am.

The back road between Sligo and Ballymote has been closed at Stonepark to facilitate a forensic examination of the scene.
