Man and woman arrested at checkpoint after shotgun found in their car

Ammunition was also found during a search of the car.

A MAN AND woman were arrested at a garda checkpoint yesterday evening after a gun was found in their car.

Gardaí at Clogheenmilcon in Blarney, county Cork were conducting a checkpoint as part of Operation Thor, which targets criminal gangs – particularly those involved in burglary.

At 7.30pm, officers stopped a car and, during a search, a shotgun and ammunition were discovered.

A man and woman, both in their 30s, were arrested at the scene. They are currently being held at Gurranabraher and Mayfield garda stations. Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
