Two arrested after guns, ammo and a replica grenade seized in Co Wicklow

The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit were called to the site where the replica grenade was discovered yesterday.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested after firearms, ammunition and a replica grenade were recovered during a garda search operation in Co Wicklow.

Gardaí from Baltinglass and Bray, supported by the Armed Support Unit, carried out a search at a residential property near Baltinglass yesterday.

During the search, officers seized a number of firearms, including two semi-automatic pistols, along with ammunition and a replica grenade.

The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service attended the scene, and a cordon was put in place for a time before the area was declared safe.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her late 20s were arrested at the scene and are currently being detained at a garda station in Wicklow.

The seized firearms will undergo technical and ballistic analysis.

“Investigations are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.
