Teenager, man in 20s arrested after serious assault

The incident took place yesterday afternoon and gardaí are seeking witnesses.

A MAN AND a woman have been arrested after a man was seriously assaulted in Limerick city yesterday.

At approximately 3.30pm yesterday afternoon, a man in his early 30s sustained serious head injuries during an incident at Edward Street, Limerick.

He was taken by ambulance to the Mid–Western Regional Hospital and later transferred to Cork University Hospital.

During a follow-up operation, gardaí from Roxboro Road arrested a male aged in his early 20s and a female in her late teens. They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Roxboro Rd garda station.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses, and in particular to anybody in the vicinity of Edward St between 3pm and 3.30pm yesterday afternoon to contact them.

They are also appealing for information on any sightings of a light green coloured saloon car with a partial registration number 10 KY in the area of Edward St around the time of the incident.
