THE 2017 NATIONAL Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year contest is currently accepting submissions.

The deadline for the competition, which attracts spectacular entries showcasing animals, landscapes and environments around the world, is 17 November.

The contest is accepting entries in four categories: wildlife, landscapes, underwater and aerials.

The overall winner will receive $10,000 (about €8,600), and be published in National Geographic magazine and on National Geographic’s Instagram account, @natgeo.

One first-place winner in each of the four categories will receive $2,500 (€2,150).
